The grooved stone finish is a secondary mechanical treatment that creates parallel channels or a specified linear pattern on the stone surface. Diamond cutting blades form the grooves according to the required spacing, width, depth and direction. Grooving can be applied over sawn, honed, polished or other prepared surfaces, provided that the stone type and thickness are suitable.
The grooves add rhythm, shadow and visual depth to the material. They may also assist with surface grip or controlled water movement, but their functional performance depends on the groove dimensions, installation direction and application.
Grooved natural stone is commonly used for exterior and interior wall cladding, decorative panels, entrance walls, stairs, ramps and architectural details. For flooring and wet areas, the remaining stone thickness, edge strength, cleaning requirements and slip resistance should be evaluated before production.
