Stone Quality Control Services 10-Step Inspection Process
Karimi Stone provides stone quality control services for natural stone orders produced for international projects. Our inspection process checks visual selection, dimensions, thickness, surface finish, fabrication quality, batch consistency, packing and shipment readiness against approved requirements before dispatch.

Quality Control Before Problems Travel
Natural stone is not a uniform manufactured surface. Color, vein movement, pores, mineral markings and structure can vary from one block, slab or tile to another.
For export projects, the objective of quality control is not to remove natural variation. It is to verify that the delivered material remains within the visual, dimensional and processing range agreed for the order. Karimi Stone currently describes its QC work as a structured inspection service carried out by technical inspectors and commercial specialists.
Inspections can be adapted to stone type, application, destination market and project requirements. Approved samples, drawings, dimensions, finish requirements and commercial agreements form the working reference for the inspection.
Detect Issues Before Shipment
Dimensional errors, unacceptable visual variation, poor finishing or packing problems become more expensive to correct after an international shipment has already left the factory.
Visual Consistency
Compare color, veining and natural movement with the approved project range before pieces are mixed into the final batch.
Dimensional Accuracy
Identify incorrect sizes or thickness variation before the material reaches installation teams on site.
Processing Quality
Review finish, edge condition and fabrication details before packing hides accessible inspection surfaces.
Shipment Readiness
Confirm that acceptable products are packed and prepared for the next stage of loading and international transport.
From Raw Block to Final Approval
This section follows the ten inspection stages currently published by Karimi Stone, reorganized into a clearer production sequence.
Raw Block Inspection
Quarry and raw block selection are reviewed against the material and project requirements before production.
Color & Vein Review
Visual range, color movement, veining and natural variation are compared with the approved reference.
Dimension Control
Length, width and required dimensions are checked during and after fabrication.
Thickness Control
Stone thickness is measured to identify variation before packing and shipment.
Surface Finish
Polished, honed, brushed and other finishes are reviewed for processing quality and consistency.
Edge & Cutting Accuracy
Edges, cut lines, corners and fabrication details are checked against the agreed requirements.
Batch Consistency
Pieces are reviewed as a group to reduce unintended visual differences within the shipment.
Defect & Rejection Control
Cracks, chips, surface defects and unacceptable pieces are identified for correction or rejection.
Packing & Pre-Loading Review
Packing suitability and shipment readiness are reviewed before the material enters the loading stage.
Final QC Approval
The completed order is reviewed against the approved requirements before release for shipment.
Four Main Inspection Areas
The 10-step workflow can be grouped into four practical control areas: material appearance, geometry, fabrication and final shipment readiness.
Visual Selection
Color range, veins, texture, pores, mineral movement and visible defects are reviewed against the approved reference.
Dimensions & Thickness
Length, width, thickness and relevant fabrication dimensions are checked according to the order and drawing requirements.
Finish & Fabrication
Surface finish, edge condition, cutting accuracy and project-specific fabrication details are reviewed before final acceptance.
Packing & Dispatch
Accepted pieces, packing suitability and pre-loading condition are reviewed before final shipment approval.
Measurements at Production Level
Karimi Stone states that its QC team carries out on-site inspections at stone factories across Iran, allowing deviations to be identified during production rather than after delivery.
Inspection can include measurement, visual comparison, production monitoring, random sampling and final pre-shipment review depending on the specific order.
QC Should Be Visible & Traceable
For international buyers who cannot be physically present during every production stage, inspection evidence helps make the QC process reviewable.
Inspection Photos
Visual records can show selected material, measurements, finish and packing condition.
Measurement Records
Dimensional and thickness checks provide objective evidence against agreed requirements.
Approved References
Samples, drawings and technical agreements establish the baseline used during inspection.
Final Approval
Release for shipment follows review of the accepted material and its pre-shipment condition.
Project Requirements Come First
Quality acceptance should be defined by the actual project specification, approved samples, drawings, applicable material standards and agreed tolerances—not by generic visual assumptions.
The Natural Stone Institute's Dimension Stone Design Manual includes technical information on stone selection, physical and mechanical properties, standards, testing, finishes and fabrication tolerances. The appropriate references depend on the stone and application.
QC Is Not a Final-Isolated Check
Inspection connects production with packing, loading and shipment. Each stage can affect the condition of the final order.
Material, dimensions, finish and final acceptance.
Packaging selected for stone format and shipment requirements.
Positioning, restraint and pre-dispatch preparation.
International transport coordination after final approval.

Practical information for buyers reviewing natural stone before shipment.
What does natural stone quality control include?
Karimi Stone's published quality control process includes raw block inspection, visual assessment, dimension and thickness checks, surface finish inspection, edge and cutting checks, batch consistency, defect control, packing review, pre-loading inspection and final approval before shipment.
Can QC be based on an approved stone sample?
Yes. Approved samples, mock-ups, drawings and technical agreements can form the inspection reference for visual range, dimensions, surface finish and fabrication requirements.
Why is batch consistency important in natural stone?
Natural stone contains inherent geological variation. Reviewing the order as a batch helps control unintended differences in color, vein movement and overall visual range across a project.
Is packing checked during the QC process?
Yes. Packing suitability review and pre-loading inspection are two of the ten QC stages currently published by Karimi Stone.
Can QC requirements change by project?
Yes. Inspection criteria should be adapted to the actual stone, dimensions, application, approved specification, destination requirements and commercial agreement for the order.
