About This Material

Red Granite Polished: Properties, Applications and Global Supply

Red Granite Polished is an Iranian natural stone known for its warm red colour, dark mineral grains, dense crystalline structure and reflective surface. Its colour range may include light red, brick red, deep red and darker tones mixed with black, white or grey minerals.

The polished finish highlights the natural colours and mineral patterns of the stone. Combined with the mechanical strength of granite, this surface makes Red Granite Polished suitable for interior flooring, walls, countertops, stairs, lift interiors and other architectural applications.

Negin Sang Karimi (Karimi Stone) processes and supplies Iranian Red Granite in slabs, tiles, free-length pieces, steps, risers and custom-cut dimensions for domestic and international projects.

What Is Red Granite?

Red Granite is an intrusive igneous rock formed when molten rock cools and crystallises slowly below the Earth’s surface. This geological process creates an interlocking mineral structure that generally provides high density, compressive strength and abrasion resistance.

The red colour is commonly related to potassium-rich feldspar and iron-bearing minerals. Quartz, mica and dark mineral inclusions may also appear across the surface. Because granite is a natural material, colour, grain size and pattern can vary between quarry sections and production lots.

Additional information about the stone’s origin and applications is available in the Red Granite guide.

How Is Red Granite Polished?

The polished finish is created through several stages of mechanical grinding and polishing. Diamond abrasives remove saw marks, flatten the surface and gradually increase its ability to reflect light.

During the final stages, Red Granite Polished develops a smooth, glossy and reflective surface. Polishing makes the colour and mineral pattern appear deeper, but it does not increase the structural strength of the stone. Granite strength mainly comes from its natural composition and crystalline structure.

Main Properties of Red Granite Polished

Distinctive Red Colour

The red background and contrasting dark grains create a strong visual identity. The exact shade and distribution of minerals vary naturally between blocks.

High Mechanical Strength

Red Granite generally has a dense crystalline structure. With suitable thickness, correct substrate preparation and professional installation, it can withstand regular foot traffic and mechanical loads.

Relatively Low Water Absorption

The dense structure of Red Granite Polished can provide relatively low water absorption. However, this does not make the stone completely waterproof or stain-proof. Joint design, sealing, installation and maintenance also affect performance.

Abrasion Resistance

Granite may provide good resistance to wear in circulation areas, floors and staircases. The actual performance of each stone lot should be confirmed using current laboratory reports.

Heat Performance

Granite generally handles normal temperature changes well. For countertops, trivets should still be used under very hot cookware. Dark red stone can become hot when exposed to direct sunlight.

Cleaning and Maintenance

The smooth surface is generally easy to clean. Strong acids, alkaline chemicals and abrasive products should be avoided because they may affect the polish, sealer or joints.

Indicative Technical Specifications

The original article stated water absorption of 0.30% and compressive strength of 1300 kg/cm². However, the current Karimi Stone product page publishes the following indicative values. Technical data may vary by lot, so project-specific certificates should be requested.

Cleaning and Maintenance

  • Use clean water and a pH-neutral natural-stone cleaner.
  • Remove oil, food and coloured liquids promptly.
  • Avoid strong acids, alkaline chemicals and abrasive cleaners.
  • Do not use rough brushes that may reduce the gloss.
  • Use cutting boards and trivets on countertops.
  • Test any sealer on a spare piece before full application.

Slip Rating & Wet Pendulum Guide

A concise overview of P1–P5 slip ratings so you can align each Karimi Stone finish with the right space, moisture level and safety expectation.

OVERVIEW

P1 → P5 safety band
P1 P2 P3 P4 P5
What the Wet Pendulum Test (WPT) tells you
The WPT measures how slippery a surface becomes when wet. Each finish is given a P rating from P1 (higher slip risk) through to P5 (maximum grip). As the number increases, the expected slip resistance also increases.

RATING SCALE SNAPSHOT
