The polished stone finish creates a smooth, glossy and reflective surface that highlights the stone’s natural color, veins and mineral patterns. After calibration, the slabs or tiles pass through a polishing line equipped with a sequence of abrasive heads. The first heads remove calibration marks and level the surface, while progressively finer abrasives refine the stone and produce the final gloss.
The quality of a polished finish depends on correct calibration, suitable abrasives, machine settings, processing speed and the polishing characteristics of the stone—not only on the number of polishing heads. Depending on the material and production method, additional treatments may also be used to improve surface clarity.
Polished natural stone is commonly selected for interior flooring, lobby walls, reception areas, countertops, columns and decorative wall cladding. Because the glossy surface may become slippery when wet, its suitability for wet floors and outdoor areas should be evaluated separately.
