Pietra Grey Sandblasted Marble
Pietra Grey Sandblasted is a dark grey Iranian marble with fine white veins and a controlled textured surface. Sandblasting removes the reflective appearance of polished marble and creates a matte finish suitable for architectural areas where low reflection, visible natural texture and improved surface grip are required. Karimi Stone produces this material in tiles, steps, wall panels and custom dimensions for domestic and international projects.

What Is Pietra Grey Sandblasted?
Pietra Grey Sandblasted is produced from natural Pietra Grey marble, also known as Lashotor marble in Iran. The stone normally has a dark grey to charcoal background crossed by fine white calcite veins. Natural changes in shade, vein direction and mineral pattern may occur between different blocks and quarry layers.
During the sandblasting process, abrasive particles are directed at the marble under controlled pressure. This removes the surface gloss and creates a fine granular texture. The depth and uniformity of the treatment depend on the abrasive material, operating pressure, processing time and required project sample.
Appearance and Surface Texture
The surface of Pietra Grey Sandblasted is matte and non-mirror-like. Sandblasting may make the grey background appear slightly lighter than the same stone with a polished or honed finish. The white veins remain visible but may appear softer because light is distributed across the textured surface.
- Dark grey to charcoal natural background
- Fine white mineral veins
- Matte surface with very low reflection
- Fine and controlled granular texture
- Natural variation between individual pieces
- Reduced visibility of fingerprints and minor daily marks
For large orders, an approved physical sample should define the required color range, vein distribution and sandblasting intensity.

Benefits of Pietra Grey Sandblasted Marble
Pietra Grey Sandblasted provides several practical benefits for carefully specified architectural applications:
- Low reflection: the matte finish controls glare in areas with strong artificial or natural light.
- Improved grip: the textured surface generally provides better grip than polished marble.
- Consistent stone identity: the dark grey background and white veins remain recognizable after processing.
- Lower visibility of marks: dust, fingerprints and small surface marks are less noticeable than on highly polished stone.
- Design coordination: the stone works with wood, glass, metal, concrete and light-colored natural stones.
- Custom production: tiles, steps and wall pieces can be manufactured according to approved drawings.
The finish should not be described as completely non-slip without a relevant test. Slip performance depends on surface texture, contamination, footwear, slope, drainage and installation conditions.
Applications of Pietra Grey Sandblasted
Pietra Grey Sandblasted can be considered for residential, commercial and selected outdoor projects:
- Interior flooring and circulation areas
- Entrance halls and building lobbies
- Steps and risers
- Corridors and shared spaces
- Interior wall cladding
- Covered terraces and entrance zones
- Landscape walls and selected exterior elements
- Custom architectural components
Exterior use must be evaluated according to climate, project location, stone thickness, fixing system, joint design, drainage and freeze-thaw exposure. Sandblasting alone does not make marble waterproof or automatically suitable for every exterior application.
Interior and Exterior Use
For interior projects, Pietra Grey Sandblasted is especially useful where a dark marble with a non-reflective surface is required. It may be selected for entrances, stairs, corridors and commercial circulation zones after reviewing traffic and cleaning requirements.
For exterior projects, the architect should confirm material performance using current test reports from the intended production lot. Correct installation must prevent water from remaining behind or beneath the stone. In cold climates, freeze-thaw resistance must be evaluated before approval.

Available Formats and Production
Karimi Stone can supply Pietra Grey Sandblasted in formats based on project drawings and quantity:
- Slabs for further processing
- Tiles in standard or custom dimensions
- Steps and risers
- Wall panels and facade pieces
- Free-length strips
- Skirting and border pieces
- Custom cut-to-size elements
Thickness, dimensions, tolerances, vein direction, edge treatment, anchoring details and surface intensity should be confirmed before production begins.
Quality Control
Before packing, every production order is inspected according to the approved specifications. The quality-control process may include:
- Checking dimensions and thickness
- Inspecting surface texture and sandblasting uniformity
- Reviewing shade and vein distribution
- Checking edges, corners and visible cracks
- Comparing production with the approved sample
- Reviewing packing according to piece size and transport method
Cleaning and Maintenance
Because Pietra Grey is a calcitic marble, acidic cleaners can etch or damage its surface. Recommended care includes:
- Use a pH-neutral cleaner made for natural marble.
- Avoid vinegar, acidic chemicals and strong alkaline cleaners.
- Remove oil, coffee and colored liquids quickly.
- Use a soft brush to clean the textured surface when necessary.
- Apply a compatible penetrating sealer if required by the project.
- Test all products on a small hidden area before general use.
A sealer can reduce moisture penetration and staining but does not make the marble completely waterproof. Additional guidance is available from the Natural Stone Institute.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Pietra Grey Sandblasted completely non-slip?
No. It normally provides better grip than polished marble, but slip performance must be confirmed according to the application and relevant project testing.
Does sandblasting change the stone color?
It does not change the natural material, but the textured surface may make the grey background appear lighter than polished Pietra Grey.
Can Pietra Grey Sandblasted be used outdoors?
It may be considered for selected exterior applications after reviewing climate, freeze-thaw exposure, drainage, anchoring and lot-specific technical results.
Can Karimi Stone produce custom dimensions?
Yes. Tiles, steps, risers, wall panels and other pieces can be produced according to approved drawings and tolerances.
