Product Category
At Karimi Stone, our Product Category system is built to help architects, designers, contractors, and project teams select the right natural stone faster and with more confidence. Each Product Category is defined by geological origin, visual character, technical behavior, and typical applications—so you can compare materials based on real project needs, not just appearance. Over millions of years, nature forms distinct stones with unique textures and structures, and we refine them through controlled cutting and finishing to deliver consistent, export-ready results.
Below is a brief introduction to our five main Product Category groups—Marble, Travertine, Limestone, Onyx, and Granite. Each category offers its own balance of strength, color harmony, and design flexibility for both interior and exterior architecture. For industry guidance on stone selection and recommended applications, you can also refer to the Natural Stone Institute.
Marble
Marble is one of the world’s most recognized metamorphic stones—formed when limestone is transformed under heat and pressure deep within the Earth. This metamorphic process recrystallizes calcite grains into a denser structure, often with elegant veining created by natural mineral impurities. Because of its refined look and proven performance, marble remains a preferred choice for interior flooring, wall cladding, staircases, countertops, decorative panels, and luxury architectural features.
Within our Product Category range, selected Iranian marbles—such as Pink Marble, Pietra Grey (Lashotor), Persian Silk, and Persian Scato— are known for color stability, fine texture, and reliable production consistency for professional projects.
Travertine
Travertine is a naturally expressive stone formed by mineral-rich water deposition in hot springs and underground rivers. Its signature pores and layered structure create a warm, organic appearance that suits both classic and contemporary design. Travertine is widely used for façades, floors, stairs, courtyards, and pool areas, especially when slip resistance and thermal comfort are important.
As a key Product Category, travertine can be produced with filled or unfilled surfaces and finished as polished, honed, brushed, tumbled, or chiseled—allowing project teams to match texture and performance requirements with the design intent.
Limestone
Limestone is a classic sedimentary stone formed from ancient marine sediments and shells compacted over geological time. Its calm look, smooth texture, and excellent workability make it one of the most widely used stones in architectural history—from monuments to modern façades. Limestone typically consists of calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) with natural mineral traces that influence tone, ranging from creamy white and beige to light grey and honey shades.
In today’s architecture, limestone remains a highly practical Product Category for façades, wall cladding, flooring, staircases, and carved details—offering a strong balance of beauty, comfort, and reliable long-term behavior in many climates.
Onyx
Onyx is one of the rarest and most visually striking natural stones, created by layered calcite deposits in caves and underground springs. Its banded patterns and light-permeable structure allow it to glow when backlit, making it ideal for premium interior applications. Because onyx is more delicate than granite or many marbles, it is mainly used for feature walls, backlit panels, reception counters, bar tops, luxury bathrooms, and spa interiors.
As a specialty Product Category, onyx is selected for projects where visual impact is the priority and controlled installation conditions can be ensured.
Granite
Granite is a dense igneous stone formed by slow magma crystallization, primarily composed of quartz, feldspar, and mica. Its crystalline structure gives it exceptional strength, abrasion resistance, and durability under heavy loads and temperature changes. For this reason, granite is widely used in façades, flooring, stairs, countertops, public spaces, and infrastructure projects—especially in colder regions where frost resistance is critical.
In our Product Category lineup, granite offers high reliability for demanding exterior and high-traffic applications while providing a wide palette of natural colors and grain patterns for modern and classical styles.
How to Use the Product Category System
Our Product Category structure helps you filter stones not only by type, but also by intended use and finishing method. Depending on your project, categories can be supplied in different formats (slabs, tiles, steps, cut-to-size) and finished as polished, honed, brushed, bush-hammered, flamed, or tumbled to match safety requirements, visual goals, and maintenance preferences.
Responsible Production and Material Selection
We also consider sustainability and efficiency across processing stages. Many materials are produced with water recycling systems and optimized machinery to reduce waste and improve consistency. Quarry planning and block selection focus on stability, recoverable yield, and long-term availability—supporting dependable supply for ongoing or multi-phase projects.
